Routine surgery and the risks of antibiotic resistance

Logo webStudies recently published in the US show how antibiotic resistance is leading to an increase in infections in patients after routine surgical interventions and treatment, including hip replacements, colorectal surgery and even blood cancer chemotherapy. The number of deaths associated with resistance to commonly used antibiotics is increasing, most especially in developing nations but across the world.
