Never before have these bacteria been shown and identified. Tiny parasitic bacteria which use other bacteria as hosts, have been found in human saliva.

The tiny cells have gone undetected for decades, but appear to be linked to gum disease, cystic fibrosis and antimicrobial resistance. There are so many implications from this, and directions in which research and/or medicine might exploit this discover. It seems to be a highly significant discovery.
